Overview:

The HSU is the specialist health union with coverage of over 80,000 health workers across Australia. Membership includes nurses and allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and radiographers, ambulance officers, clerical and administrative staff, managers and support staff. Our members in many cases are also the ones that keep the health system running smoothly, the ward clerks, storemen, kitchen, cleaning and administrative staff.

The HSU Victorian Branch represents the interests of members employed in diverse classifications across the public and private sectors ranging for example from residential and disability support workers, clerical, administration and managerial workers, cleaning, kitchen and store workers, aged care workers, nurses and ambulance officers.

Job Description:

The Research Officer will be responsible for a range of policy, research and development activities related to the Health industry, professional and workforce development and industrial matters.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

  • Sound working knowledge of the industrial relations system and/or Victorian health sector.
  • Proven ability to undertake research in industrial relations, employment, workforce and other associated areas.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Desired:

An ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.

Previous experience in a trade union or other socially aware organisation.

Additional
Information:

The applicant must be a permanent resident and able to work in Australia.

The successful applicants will have a strong commitment to the labour movement and a capacity to handle a varied and demanding workload.
