| Job Description: |
The AMWU is seeking an experienced media officer to be responsible for media liaison for the National Secretary and the union at a national level. The job will involve:
- writing press releases;
- liaising with journalists;
- issues management;
- co-ordinating media events;
- developing campaign messages from research/polling;
- preparing research and reports/summaries for release; and
- working with the Communications team and other officers to achieve the unions major media and campaign objectives.

| Experience & Qualifications |
| Essential: |
The successful applicant will be independent and motivated, with tertiary qualifications or significant experience in communications, journalism, public relations or similar.
Established contacts in national news organisations and the Canberra Press Gallery.
A commitment to the cause of organised labour and progressive values are essential.

| Desired: |
Experience in a variety of media/campaign roles and experience or interest in new media is an advantage.
|
|
| Salary: |
The AMWU offers attractive working conditions including a monthly rostered-day-off, 10% superannuation and income protection.
The Media Officer will be provided with an iPhone/Blackberry, laptop and mobile internet access. Travel will be required on occasion.
Salary level will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
