The LHMU is WA's largest Union. We represent workers in a wide range of industries including, Health, Aged Care, Indigenous Organisations, Cleaning, Security, Hospitality, Education, Manufacturing and Childcare.

The LHMU Nationally has been at the forefront of developing new organising and campaigning models. The WA branch has been at the cutting edge of developing work place power through industry, political and community campaigning.

Job Description:

Organisers work in teams, under the supervision of a Lead Organiser on industry-wide campaigns to:

EXTERNAL ORGANISER

  • join workers to the union (recruit new members)

  • Plan and participate in workplace and industry campaigns and conduct campaign actions

  • Identify and develop new workplace Delegates

  • Build activism and leadership amongst union members

INTERNAL ORGANISER

  • Support Delegates and Members in resolving workplace issues

  • Answer member queries on entitlements and workplace matters

  • Represent and assist members and delegates in accordance with workplace grievance procedures

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

To be successful in this role you will display

  • passion for the union movement

  • ability to work long and unpredictable hours

  • current drivers licence

  • experience in union, community, social justice, student or other activist campaigns preferred

  • community languages a plus
