Overview:

An excellent opportunity exists for a full-time Legal Officer to join the Port Kembla Branch of The Australian Workers' Union (AWU).

---
Job Description:

The successful candidate must have excellent research skills, attention to detail and possess the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

The Legal Office is responsible for overseeing and providing advice related to Employment and Industrial Relations matters.

The responsibilities of the position include advice, representation and advocacy for our members on a wide range of industrial and employment law matters. Applications from Legal Officers with varying experience are welcome.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Legal qualifications are essential.

Experience in industrial relations will be regarded favorably.

Position expectations

  • Preparation and representation of members before Fair Work Australia, State Industrial Relations Commission, Magistrates Court
  • Negotiating with employers on individual and collective issues.
  • Research, monitoring and reporting on industrial law developments
