Overview:

1 Day per week @ 7 hours $53 000 - $57 000 pro-rata + super.

The Sydney Alliance is an independent not-for-profit organisation funded by its member organisations. It is made up of religious, community and union organisations across Sydney interested in working together to building a better city.

Through a program of leadership development, training and relationship building, our aim is to provide our community with a voice to express common values and aspirations for a fair and just Sydney.

The Sydney Alliance is seeking a mature, experienced Financial Assistant to be part of a small dynamic team. This would suit someone returning to the workforce, semi-retired or retired person.

The position is part-time permanent with the incumbent required to work 7 hrs one day per week. The nominated day of work is negotiable between Thursday or Friday.

Due to the nature of the Sydney Alliance's activities there may be a requirement to increase hours to 10-14 hours over two days per week in peak periods. It would be desirable if the incumbent can be flexible in working these additional hours when required.

Job Description:

Purpose of the position:

  • Provide financial and administrative support to a team of mobile staff.
  • Provide assistance to the Administration Officer in other duties where required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Accounts Payable, Accounts receivable & Banking duties
  • Credit control
  • Preparation of BAS statements
  • Bank statement reconciliations Payroll tasks including the upkeep of employee files, superannuation, entitlements
  • Post-training costing analyses
  • Fixed asset register, chart of accounts maintenance

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Essential:

1. Relevant accounting qualifications.

2. Experience in accounts payable and receivable.

3. Experienced in MYOB.

4. Knowledge of how to prepare BAS statements.

5. High level computer skills particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

6. Accuracy and attention to detail

7. Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision, manage and prioritise work and rise to challenges. 8. High level time management skills and ability to deliver on multiple tasks.

1. Experience with COMMBIZ - Commonwealth Bank's online system or willingness to learn.

2. Commitment to social justice values.

Salary:

Salary ranges from $53 000 - 57 000 pro rata depending on experience.

Hours of work are 7 hours per week on either Thursday or Friday.

The office is located in the Sydney CBD.

Final candidates will be expected to participate in a panel interview. Initial employment will include a 90 day probation period.
