Overview:

The CPSU (PSU Group) is one of the most active and innovative trade unions in Australia today. We are a 60,000 strong federal union with members in every state and territory from Commonwealth government departments, statutory authorities, business enterprises and the ACT and NT governments.

Job Description:

The primary function of this role is to develop and implement effective campaigns and strategies to build members collective power in the workplace.

There is also a strong emphasis on recruiting members and developing member activists and workplace leaders.

The position will report to the Team Official and Regional Director and will be focused on meeting key union objectives of:

  • Winning improvements in members pay, conditions and working environment through delivering the unions core claim in bargaining and our agenda for change in our industry
  • Delivering a stronger voice for members by ensuring union membership grows and by building member participation in union activity
  • Giving members ownership of their union by building effective workplace delegate structures and increasing the number, skill and engagement of activists and workplace leaders in CPSU activity.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

SELECTION CRITERIA - ESSENTIAL:

1. A commitment to union values and principles, helping others and making a contribution to society

2. High level verbal communication and interpersonal skills

3. Ability to lead and organize, build relationships, motivate and develop individuals or groups

4. Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem solving skills

5. Ability to plan and organize work and achieve outcomes

6. Ability to work semi-autonomously, demonstrate initiative, drive and resilience in a changing environment

7. Well developed written communication skills

Salary:

$57,472 - $72,403 (including Organiser Expense Allowance paid as salary) + 14% super
