The Transport Workers Union is committed to building power for transport and logistics workers.

---
Job Description:

The TWU is looking for an experienced organiser to develop and implement the unions waterfront to store supply chain organising program.

The lead organiser will:

  • map out supply chains
  • identify key clients and hubs
  • recruit and lead staff, volunteer organisers and member organisers
  • develop and implement organising campaigns at major ports and strategic transport companies
  • recruit and build a network of supply chain activists
  • work closely with other transport unions within the Transport Unions Federation and other coalitions to develop and implement campaigns
  • Evening and weekend work will be involved and this position may require some travel throughout the country.

  • Experience & Qualifications
    Essential:

    • Experience and success running organising campaigns
    • Have demonstrated success at providing direction and leadership to other organisers or member/volunteer organisers
    • 5-7 years of direct organizing experience preferred
    • A knowledge of union organising practices and principles and thorough knowledge of labor laws, in both private and public sectors
    • The ability to write organising plans
    • A strong working knowledge of data base programs and the ability to develop an organising data base
    • Experience working with coalitions
    • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and project management skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Computer literate and ability to write leaflets and newsletters
    • Maintains trust and confidence of multiple levels of union leadership
    • Self-starter with an ability to work with limited supervision
    • Drivers license required
