An exciting opportunity is available for a media professional who is passionate about workers rights and progressive political issues.
The National Communications Officer (Media and Publications) position is based in Melbourne, as part of the National Communications Team.

| Job Description: |
Research and write articles and feature stories for the unions website, and the quarterly national magazine.
Write press releases, develop networks with journalists, and organise media coverage of the unions campaigns and events.
Assist with other communication tasks as required.
|
| Experience & Qualifications |
| Essential: |
Experience in public relations or journalism.
Demonstrated writing ability.
Ability to understand and explain issues to a general audience.
Commitment to the union movement/progressive political causes.
Qualified or working towards a communications degree or equivalent
|

| Desired: |
Experience in community campaigning/union organising.
Knowledge of social media technology/interest in new technology.
Interest in photography.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

| Salary: |
Starting salary is $53 710 + 10% super, with regular performance reviews and opportunities to advance.
The officer will be provided with a MacBook, iPhone, and mobile internet access. Some travel will be required and travel allowances are paid.
