Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA)

APESMA is a trade union which represents the industrial, professional and legal interests of Engineers, Scientists, Mangers, Pharmacists and other professionals.

We are growing membership and building strength through working with members in their workplaces, in their industries and within their professions.

We aim to make a positive difference to our members working and professional lives and we promote recognition of members for the important professional services they provide. We work in a targeted, planned way to deliver results for Australian Professionals.

This job is in the Victorian Branch of APESMA. The role involves working with a Lead Organizer and being part of an organizing team. You will also be working with members, workplace representatives and workplace leaders to plan and implement campaigns that build the strength of the union and deliver good industrial outcomes.

The tasks involved in this include mapping, creating and working to organising plans, developing workplace reps, building sustainable organising structures and recruiting new members.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in Enterprise Bargain campaigning and negotiations.

Demonstrated commitment to trade union values.

Previous experience working as an Organiser in the union movement.

Excellent communication skills including the use of organising frameworks Demonstrated ability to work with and influence members and potential members; including recruiting new members, activists and leaders.

Ability to work with leaders, reps and members to develop their skills and confidence.

Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work.

Good knowledge of the federal industrial relations system, collective bargaining and individual industrial instruments.

Computer literacy and keyboard skills.

Current drivers licence

A competitive salary dependent on your level of skill and experience.
