Overview:

HACSU has an initial 6 month position at the central union office and is inviting applications from individuals who possess the necessary passion, commitment, skills and knowledge to fulfil the role as an Area Organiser.

The Health and Community Services Union (HSU VIC No. 2 branch) is an industry based Union representing employees in psychiatric, alcohol and other drugs and disability services. We work as a team to win improvements for our members.

Job Description:

The duties include:

Develop and implement organising plans, plan and undertake regular workplace visits. Participation in campaigns aimed at building strength and capacity in the workplace Mentor, train and support delegates in the workplace. Research and analyse workplaces and industries, and develop strategic plans. Represent union members at the workplace and other forums. Advocacy and representation in the Industrial Relations Commission and other forums. Providing information and support to union members Relieve other organisers as required.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

The successful applicant will have organising experience, or will possess experience in community campaigns, experience as a workplace representative, or make a strong case based on experience, education or personal qualities. Negotiating skills and the ability to analyse and interpret employment rights, agreements and legislation are required.

You will be energetic, a good team member, motivated to learn, be well organised, and committed to supporting the rights of working people. The successful applicant will be offered training and support to develop the skills necessary in the role.

Salary:

The Union offers an attractive salary package, which includes good superannuation and the use of a motor vehicle.

Additional
Information:

You will need a drivers licence, and may be required to undertake some country travel and out of hours work.
