Overview:

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is offering an amazing opportunity to work for the Australian Union Movement, whilst completing a comprehensive training program. We are seeking people in VIC, NSW, WA & SA who are committed to pursuing the rights of all working Australians, whether young or old, male or female, or from a culturally or linguistically diverse background.

Job Description:

Each year, the ACTU offers a limited number of activists an opportunity to join our Organising Works program. The program encompasses on-the-job training with an Australian Union, and ten (10) months of formal ACTU training to achieve the Certificate IV in Unionism & Industrial Relations. The formal program will commence in February/March 2011.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, make sure you apply: Do you want to make a real difference to workers and their rights; Are you a strong supporter of social justice in Australia; Do you have the ability to motivate and inspire others to stand up for themselves?; Are you a good listener?; Do you have good written and oral communication skills?

Applicants should be able to demonstrate their commitment to union values and their ability to organise others to stand up for their rights, and describe how they have organised events, activities or others in pursuit of social justice goals.
