Primary Responsibilities;
The Industrial Officer-Research will work to:
1. Provide specialist advisory services to the Union through the development of oral and written submissions, briefings and reports on contemporary industrial and fire industry issues;
2. Monitor trends and developments in firefighting and industrial relations within Victoria, and analysing and reporting on the implications of these for Victorian Firefighters;
3. Provide advice on complex employee and industrial relations issues including:
- bargaining
- industrial disputes
- discrimination in employment
- workplace health and safety
- superannuation
- work cover
- work and family
- equal opportunity.
Duties:
1. Providing high level research and analysis of issues relevant to firefighters and their union;
2. Preparing reports and briefing papers for the Branch Secretary and Branch Committee of Management on a range of issues relating to State and Federal Industrial and other relevant legislation;
3. Providing advice and support to members on a variety of issues and processes, including the production of regular Industrial Updates;
4. Develop and maintain industrial/research database.
