Responsibilities will include:
implementing the strategic communication aims of the organisation as contained in the Unions communication audit including branding, key messaging and core and non-core member communication activities;
assisting in the development of the annual communication goals of the Union;
liaising with external local, regional and national media outlets to ensure the Unions profile is raised as part of campaigns and other activities;
maintaining regular contact with officers of the Union to receive latest news for website updates and provide campaign and communications assistance;
managing the functionality of the Unions website, including blogs, campaign functions, polls, surveys and messaging;
updating web content;
generating ideas, research and prepare flyers, e-news, website articles and internal documents such as training, OHS, workers compensation, etc;
communicating to relevant officers of the Union and where applicable the Unions members on new industrial legalisation and related developments in industrial relations (e.g. national wage case, paid parental leave, etc);
maintaining the integrity of membership material;
managing and control of mass mailings to members and other stakeholders;
managing and control of SMS;
developing and implementing large and small campaigns, including liaising with others sections of the Union and where applicable other organisations;
providing regular reports to the Unions committees of management;
setting and managing deadlines and working within budgets;
copy writing, including media releases, feature articles and web content.
