Overview:

ACTU Member Connect works with unions to provide benefits that add value to union membership.

The Member Connect team understands the work unions do, and we help unions by providing an aditional resource with a dedicated focus on adding value to membership. Services and products aren't the reason workers join unions, but union members should be rewarded for joining and maintaining their links to the union in more ways that just representation.

Member Connect has three main objectives:

. To provide services to union members at preferential rates

. To provide call centre services for unions

. To provide tangible financial savings for unions.

Member Connect is 100% union owned by 16 unions and the ACTU. The Board of Directors is made up of ACTU Executive members along with independent directors, reflecting the broad range of Australian unions and working people.

Job Description:

Market services to unions and their members and to maximise support from unions for Member Connect services.

To promote industry superannuation funds to unions and their members.

Promote ME Bank services to unions and their members.

Assist service providers gain access to workplace marketing through unions.

Maximise relevance of, and support for, Member Connect and the ACTU among both unions and service providers.

To assist Unions in recruiting and retaining members by providing information on membership services and superannuation.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Negotiation skills and capacity to solve problems.

Capacity to carry out work independently and develop goals.

Well developed capacity to represent the ACTU in external forums based on sound organisational knowledge.

Strong understanding of the political environment, unions, their priorities and the role of organising and services.

Communications skills writing, editing, production.

Understanding of superannuation and the industry funds network.

Understanding of IR legislation and issues.

Desired:

Tertiary qualified (desirable).
Experience of working with unions or other community organisations.

Salary:

ACTU Level 3 ($53,275 - $59,423)

Additional
Information:

This position will require some interstate travel.

The Workplace Marketing Officer reports to the General Manager, ACTU Member Connect.
