If successful, you will be seeking to lift the working lives of Victorian Firefighting Industry Staff by:
1.Providing support and advice to members at meetings with the employers, at FWA or in the workplace, on a wide variety of issues and processes including grievance and disciplinary processes.
2.Keeping regular contact with Union delegates and Officials regarding a variety of matters including workplace change, Union campaigns and employer campaigns.
3.Negotiating with members employers/managers across Victoria, seeking to find resolutions to workplace disputes and negotiating outcomes involving multiple stakeholders.
4.Conducting some research and providing advice internally at the UFU, on industrial relations issues including but not limited to:
a.Bargaining
b.Industrial disputes
c.Discrimination
d.Workplace health and safety
5.Participating with UFU staff, delegates and members in preparing and running strategic industrial disputes and campaigns.
6.Preparing correspondence, submissions, reports and membership bulletins in relation to all of the matters above.
7.Reporting to the UFU Industrial Manager and Secretary, and working closely with the UFU Vic Branch Industrial and Administrative staff, as well as collaborating with the National Office and other Branch personnel.
Whilst the above points cover some of the main roles of Industrial staff at the UFU, the role of Industrial Staff at the UFU can cover a wide spectrum of work. The Union engages in a range of different forums, and is always looking for new ways to tackle problems and work towards fairer and better working lives for Firefighting Industry staff.
The position will be a full time appointment with a three month probationary period, located in inner city Melbourne with some travel across Victoria and interstate.
