HACSU has an ongoing Industrial Organiser position at the central union office and is inviting applications from members and delegates who possess the necessary passion, commitment, skills and knowledge to fulfil the roles.
The Health and Community Services Union (HSU VIC No. 2 branch) is an industry-based Union representing employees in psychiatric, alcohol and drug and disability services. We work as a team to win improvements of our members.
The Member Services Team (MST) is a dynamic work environment. Its main functions are: the accurate and timely provision of relevant information, support and industrial advice via the telephone advice service; management of individual grievances and disciplinary cases and undertake industrial representation in a variety of settings, including Fair Work Australia, tribunals and hearings processes.

| Job Description: |
The MST works as part of a team with field organisers to identify organising opportunities and contribute to the strategic growth of the Union and its membership.
The duties include:
- Providing timely and accurate information, advice and support to union members.
- Representing union members in negotiating satisfactory outcomes to resolve individual grievances and disputes.
- Analyse and research members grievances and industrial matters to identify solution pathways and options.
- Case manage member issues as required, including representation, research and writing submissions, file documentation, make appropriate referrals, registrations and correspondence to employers on behalf of members.
- Case advocacy and representation in the Industrial Relations Commission and other forums.
- Identify opportunities to recruit and organise in member workplaces and refer to the Lead Organiser or State Area Organiser as appropriate.
- Participation in campaigns aimed at building strength and capacity in the workplace.
- Relieve Area Organisers as necessary and directed.
This full time position will undertake a minimum of 2 days Duty Organiser phone coverage per week and will manage an individual caseload. MST Organisers must be team players and self-starters, and be able to identify the need for senior industrial advice and / or intervention as required.

| Experience & Qualifications |
| Essential: |
The successful applicant will have experience in providing advice and advocacy to union members, experience as a workplace representative, or make a strong case based on experience, education or personal qualities.

| Desired: |
You will be energetic, a good team member, motivated to learn, be well organised, and committed to supporting the rights of working people. The successful applicant will be offered training and support to further develop the skills necessary in the role.
You will need a drivers licence, and may be required to undertake some country travel and out of hours work.
