Overview:

The Independent Education Union of Australia - Queensland and Northern Territory Branch is a union representing over 15,500 teacher, school officer and services staff members in non-government education institutions throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Job Description:

Duties of the Communciations Officer / Journalist include:

- Develop, maintain and co-ordinate the unions website and online resources.

- Produce union publications including newsletters.

- Develop and implement communication strategies.

- Act as the media liaison, write media releases and develop media strategies.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

1.Capacity to think creatively and write with purpose.

2.Capacity to produce communications (including research and write articles) including oversight of production and printing processes and maintain and enhance a website. Knowledge of InDesign would be advantageous.

3.Capacity to develop and implement strategies for union campaigning/organising.

Salary:

This position is designated in the range Level 1 Step 1 to Level 2 Step 4 of the Officers Scale ($61,885.72 - $80,241.94 p.a.). Graduate appointment is within the range $52,431.06 to $57,948.89 p.a. Appointment to a salary level will be made on the basis of qualifications and experience.
