Overview:

Develop & implement interactive online education programs. Provide technical student & staff support for the introduction & ongoing implementation of online education programs.

12 month contract.

Job Description:

Specific Duties:

• Source, edit & create online educational resources and content (including multimedia, video & audio) to support the Organising Centre curriculum.

• Convert and upload content into digital formats.

• Review content, produce statistics and reports and provide advice on improving engagement around usability.

• Develop guidelines for publishers including technical design and development processes.

• Develop guidelines for students such as user manuals and 'how to' guides.

• Liaise with TAFE VC as required to ensure relevant technical & functional issues are addressed & resolved.

• In conjunction with relevant ACTU staff, provide advice to the Online Education Coordinator & Assistant Director (Education) in relation to relevant copyright, licensing & compliance requirements for online materials.

• Provide advice to the Online Education Coordinator on any freeware, software & other system requirements necessary to undertake the development of online resources.

• Assist in the skill development of existing staff.

• Provide assistance to Organising Centre staff as required and participate in a range of Centre activities.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Qualifications:

Web publishing or multimedia (or related) qualifications and at least 4 years experience preferred.

Knowledge and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in web publishing applications and procedures.

• Demonstrated experience working with websites.

• Solid experience in sourcing, editing, compressing, converting images and using audio and video formats.

• Demonstrated experience in complex content management systems preferably in online education contexts (not essential).

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in building and running successful online communities or social spaces.

Skills and abilities

• Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively & as part of a team & to show initiative and judgment.

• Well developed organisational and time management skills.

• Capacity to develop skills of existing staff.

Key Selection Criteria

• Experience in the facilitation & moderation of online and/or distance education programs.

• Experience in online communities and social spaces.

• Demonstrated capacity to source, edit, develop and upload learning content to the web or online learning management system.

• A sound understanding of LMS systems such as Blackboard or Moodle in a teaching & learning environment.

• Proficiency in image editing & audio & video editing applications such as, but not limited to, Photoshop, Audacity, MovieMaker, Flash, Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere.

• Understanding of HTML & CSS code & Dreamweaver.

• Knowledge of current trends & best practice in E-learning and organisational learning.

• Demonstrated commitment to the values & principles of trade unionism.

$62,154-$68,984 plus 15% superannuation
