Independent Education Union of Australia - Queensland & Northern Territory Branch

The IEUA-QNT Branch is a union representing more than 15,500 teacher, school officer and services staff members in non-government education institutions throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

An Organiser is to be appointed to support members of the Northern Territory Division of the IEUA-QNT Branch.

The Organiser will be based in Darwin. The position is full time.

The Queensland Independent Education Union (QIEU) has agreed to provide support to the IEUA - Northern Territory Division under agreed arrangements.

The Organiser for the Northern Territory Division of the IEUA-QNT will, under these arrangements, be an employee of QIEU and will be employed under the QIEU Officer conditions.

Regular travel to the Brisbane office will be required as part of the role.

The duties of the position include:

• recruiting and encouraging member activism.

• developing workplace strategies in conjunction with members.

• conducting training courses.

• representing union members in negotiations.

• providing advice and support for union members.

A relevant tertiary degree and / or significant work experience in a relevant and related area is essential.

An education background will be favourably considered.

This position is designated in the range of the QIEU Officers Scale $61,885.72 - $80,241.94 p.a.

Graduate appointment is within the range $52,431.06 to $57,948.89 p.a.

Appointment to a salary level will be made on the basis of qualifications and experience.

Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

This is a full time position which will commence no later than mid January 2012 however it would be ideal if the successful candidate was available to commence from a date in the first week of October 2011 to enable transition and training.
