About United Voice

United Voice Victoria (formerly LHMU) is a diverse and progressive union improving the lives of workers in casinos, hotels, child care, cleaning, security, health and manufacturing. Workers join United Voice Victoria to be part of a powerful member-led union campaigning for change in our industries. United Voice Victoria is one of 8 local branches that make up the national union.

Union Structure

United Voice Victoria has 6 Lead Organisers, 30 organisers, and a Member Organiser program. We run industry-wide campaigns across key sectors. Lead Organisers and their teams of organisers are responsible for growth, building leadership and campaign actions. Campaigns are supported by a comprehensive campaign unit, community organising, and separate bargaining and enforcement/grievance teams.

Reporting The Organising and Development Director will report to the Secretary.

Job Description:

The Organising and Development Director is a senior position, working with Lead Organisers and Organisers to implement our organising program across the union. The Organising and Development Director will:

• Recruit and train new organisers

• Implement development plans

• Conduct union-wide organiser training

• Oversee the Member Organiser program

• Support Lead Organisers' with their plans, targets and tools

• Troubleshoot organising challenges in key campaigns

• Oversee delegate and leader training

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Commitment to a leader-led, activist union and to campaigning

• At least 2 years' experience in a Lead Organiser or Development role

• At least 4 years' total experience in union organising

• Experience in training and curriculum development preferred.

Salary:

Salary of 83.7K to 96.2K, depending on experience. This includes a Motor Vehicle allowance of 12.8K. Sponsorship and a relocation allowance will be arranged for a successful international applicant.
