About United Voice

United Voice Victoria (formerly LHMU) is a diverse and progressive union improving the lives of workers in casinos, hotels, child care, cleaning, security, health and manufacturing. People join United Voice Victoria to be part of a powerful member-led union campaigning for change in our industries. United Voice Victoria is one of 8 local branches that make up the national union. In Victoria, we have 30 Organisers across 6 teams.

Job Description:

Detailed information is in the application pack. Organisers work in teams under the supervision of a Lead Organiser on industry-wide campaigns to:

• Join workers to the union

• Build activism and leadership amongst union members

• Conduct campaign actions, including protests and rallies

Reporting Organisers report to their Lead Organiser

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Qualifications

  • Passion for the union movement.
  • experience in one of the following: union, community, social justice, student or other activist campaigns, volunteer work or a relevant social sciences, industrial relations or related degree.
  • Confidence and interest in talking to people
  • Drivers licence now or soon

Salary:

Starting salary of $58.5K per annum including Motor Vehicle Allowance of $12.8K per annum for the use of your own vehicle. Higher salaries apply to experienced organisers, who are encouraged to also apply. Benefits include generous superannuation, income protection and 6 weeks annual leave.

Completed applications must be received by Fri Oct 14th 12 noon for an October interview or Wed Nov 30th for a December interview. Formal job offers are made in both October and December.
