Overview:

The NTEU (WA Division) is seeking applications for a vacant, full-time, on-going Level 6 Division Industrial Organiser position.

This is a full-time, on-going position and is located in Perth. It is based at the WA Division Office, but the appointee will have some specified Branch allocated time and will have responsibilities across the WA Division. The appointee will be part of a team of industrial and organising staff working across the WA Division.

Job Description:

Duties will include both industrial and organising tasks. The appointee is expected to have his/her own vehicle and a current Drivers Licence that is valid in WA but an exception to this is possible under certain circumstances. The Division Industrial Organiser will report directly to the WA Division Secretary but will work with members, elected officers and other NTEU staff.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Applications for this position will be considered against the following broad criteria:

Possession of an undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education or training.

High level communication skills to speak to members and potential members individually and in groups and also to communicate with University Managements.

Experience with unions or community organisations and preferably direct involvement representing issues or individuals.

Demonstrated capacity in planning and organising campaigns.

Relevant experience in the production of leaflets and/or newsletters.

Ability to effectively organise own work and to work co-operatively with Elected Officers and other Union Staff.

Knowledge of the role and function and operation of universities.

Basic facility in the use of word processing and email packages and the ability to learn new computer packages.

Experience in the use of the In Design package is an advantage.

Salary:

The appointment will be made at NTEU Level 6 and carries a salary in the range $72,978 - $80,003, plus an additional 17% employer superannuation component. The terms and conditions of the position are currently in accordance with the NTEU National Union Collective Agreement 2010-2012. A copy of this Agreement is available from the WA Division Secretary on request.
