About United Voice

United Voice Victoria (formerly LHMU) is a diverse and progressive union improving the lives of workers in casinos, hotels, child care, cleaning, security, health and manufacturing. Workers join United Voice Victoria to be part of a powerful member-led union campaigning for change in our industries. United Voice Victoria is one of 8 local branches that make up the national union.

Union Structure United Voice Victoria has a team of Industrial Officers led by this position. These Industrial Officers work with members to enforce awards and agreements. They are responsible for full resolution of workplace issues, from interviewing members to appearing in tribunals. We run industry-wide campaigns across key sectors with 6 Lead Organisers, 30 Organisers, and a Member Organiser program. Agreements are bargained by a team of 3 additional Industrial Officers. Our campaigns are supported by a comprehensive campaigns unit and community organizing.

Job Description:

The Lead Industrial Officer supervises a team of Industrial Officers who: Provide industrial advice and representation to members on the phone and on site Resolve members' workplace issues Advocate for members before industrial tribunals

The Lead Industrial Officer will:

Lead by example by providing excellent advice and advocacy to members.

Allocate and supervise industrial work, including phone queries, case files, disputes, and advocacy work.

Develop and mentor Industrial Officers.

Work effectively with other Lead Officials as part of the union's leadership team.

Develop systems to track, report on and improve the team's work.

The Lead Industrial Officer will report to the Assistant Secretary.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Experience in advocating for workers or on behalf of Unions in tribunals, Courts and industrial settings.

Experience managing other people.

Ability to track, analyse, report on and improve work practices and systems.

A thorough working knowledge of the Australian industrial relations system.

Passion for the union movement.

Ability to work some unpredictable hours.

Drivers licence now or soon.

Legal qualification a plus.

Salary:

Salary range $63.7K to $87.4 depending on experience. This includes a Motor Vehicle allowance of $12.8K. Sponsorship and a relocation allowance will be arranged for a successful international or interstate applicant.
