An exciting career opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and qualified person to take on the role of Industrial Officer within the ACTU.

The ACTU is the peak trade union body in Australia. We are seeking an Industrial Officer who can: Provide advice to unions and the ACTU on the application of current industrial laws to workplace issues, and help find creative solutions to problems;

Prepare speeches, submissions to inquiries, and discussion papers in relation to industrial law and broader workplace issues;

Prepare submissions and make appearances in Fair Work Australia in major test cases and national disputes; and Assist in the ACTUs work in support of union campaigns.

The ideal candidate will have:

Significant experience working as an Industrial Officer for a trade union (including a detailed knowledge of the Fair Work Act);

Experience writing submissions, discussion papers and policy documents;

and Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

The job will be based in Melbourne, reporting to the Assistant Secretary. Salary will be commensurate with experience, subject to the ACTU Staff Agreement. Benefits include 15% superannuation.
